Finding a Forever Home:Amir’s journey of resilience, and hope.

Share:

It is undeniable that every child deserves a loving home, a supportive environment, and the opportunity to thrive. Understanding that this is unfortunately not always the case, this is the mission that OrphanCare, a leading advocate for child welfare in Malaysia, relentlessly pursues. One such story that profoundly underscores the essence of this mission is the resilient and brave journey of a boy named Amir.

The Beginning

Amir was born in a hospital in Klang. His mom couldn’t take care of him, so she left him there leaving no further support. As authorities and teams of people tried to find his mom, efforts were proven to be futile with no clues of her whereabouts. His grandma wanted to help, but she couldn’t take care of him either. So, JKM placed him in an institution where he was cared for.

In his early years, he was a fun and happy kid. He loved to play with other kids. But like many children who grow up in institutional environments, Amir struggled immensely with his broken heart and his tragic early start to life. The pain haunted Amir to the point where he needed special care, seldomly needing a nebulizer dose to help him sleep.

He had a lot of energy, and sometimes, it was hard for families to take care of him. Two families tried to adopt him, but it was tough because of his energy. They brought him back.

Difficult journeys are worth the destination

Kids like Amir sometimes often carry with them a deep-seated trauma. Feelings of abandonment, a sense of being unloved, and overwhelming tides of emotions often become a major obstacle in their daily lives. They might get angry or have trouble learning. When a family decides to adopt them, they might find it challenging at first. When adopted, these children require patience, understanding, and unique approaches to help them integrate into their new forever home.

On the other hand, with the right environment and support, these children can experience life changing opportunities. This shift might be slow and challenging but once witnessed, the bond that eventually forms is profound, rooted in trust, understanding, and mutual growth.

OrphanCare plays a pivotal role in this transformation. We provide indispensable training for adoptive parents, ensuring they’re equipped with the tools, knowledge, and understanding to tackle any hurdles they may face.

A new chapter begins with a big celebration.

In 2023, Amir was blessed with something amazing. OrphanCare found a family for Amir. And guess what? It was around his birthday on July 28th so we threw a surprise birthday party because he was not just celebrating another year of life, but also the promise of a loving home.

How do we help more kids find homes ?

OrphanCare does a lot more than just finding families for kids. We continuously advocate for Deinstitutionalisation (DI), aiming to provide a more personalized and nurturing environment for children rather than institutionalised care.

Several strategic approaches are in play:

You Can Make a Big Difference!

Think about this: if you gave the money you use to buy a snack or your daily coffee, you could help kids like Amir. Even a little bit can help a lot.

Everything you do, whether big or small, can change a kid’s life. Join OrphanCare and make kids in Malaysia happy and loved. Every kid deserves a family and a warm home.
