At OrphanCare, our mission has always been to ensure that every child grows up in a safe, loving, and permanent family environment. To strengthen this commitment, we had the privilege of hosting an insightful session with Mr. Raymond NC Jagan, a retired JKM officer with deep expertise in the Child Act.
His talk shed light on critical areas of child protection — from council and child protection to care and protection measures, investigations, arrests and proceedings, as well as offences and penalties. These themes resonate closely with the challenges and responsibilities we face daily in advocating for children’s rights and protecting their welfare.
By linking legal frameworks with real-world practice, Mr. Raymond’s sharing deepened our understanding of how the Child Act supports the work we do — whether it is in preventing child abandonment, protecting children in crisis, or ensuring proper legal processes that put the child’s best interest first.
The knowledge gained from this session not only strengthens our advocacy but also reaffirms our role as a bridge between the law and the lived realities of children who need protection and care.
